From this introductory course, you will gain a basic understanding of botanical drawing and pattern design, using a mixture of media such as fineliner, inks, watercolours and coloured pencils.

When: Beginning on Monday 26 February for four-weeks, 6.30pm to 9pm (2.5 hours).

Format: In this short 4-week course, you will be guided to create a repeating botanical pattern, which could be used for a fabric or wallpaper design. Be inspired by Art Nouveau and Arts&Crafts examples to develop various design elements in your own style. By using artistic graphic techniques, you will then weave these elements together into a repeated surface pattern.

Materials: All materials are included in the price, but you are encouraged to bring images you find inspiring.

Tutor:Ali Chapell-Bates is a local Cambridgeshire artist, specialising in botanical and animal ink drawings. She has a background in Graphic design and has trained in Horticulture with RHS. She has produced a beautiful line of homeware and stationery with her artwork. https://alichappellbatesart.com/
