Botanical Sketchbook Club - Leaves & Foliage - 9th January 2024

This is a 3 hour drawing group based in the lovely cafe at Oakington Garden Centre. I will be teaching a different topic every month from January to March 2024. You are welcome to attend a single session, or book all three at once for a 10% discount.

This session is suitable for any level of artist and the aim is to provide you with inspiration and fascinating facts, allowing you to draw with a fresh eye and new perspective. 

During the session, I will guide you on how to observe leaves and foliage from a botanical viewpoint, in an easy to follow way which will help you to identify different features.

Leaves come in a surprising variety of shapes, sizes and colours. Some are simple and some more complex. Many also have clever and unusual adaptations to help them survive their environments.

This is a special opportunity to study a wide range of plants. We will look at a range of botanical samples, both from my own collection, and when samples are available, from within the Garden Centre itself. 

You will also receive a free drink from the cafe (excluding alcohol), and a voucher for 10% discount for the cafe and shop on the day of the class.

WHAT TO BRING: This is an informal session, working from life, sketching in your own style. Please bring your own sketchbooks, paper, pencils, fineliner and/or watercolours - whatever you need to work with.
